When we purchased Optimista she no longer had an engine nor any engine auxiliaries. The option would then be to purchase a new diesel engine or to convert her into an electric vessel. For multiple reasons we decided for the later and installed a new electric engine system designed and installed by James which includes a bespoke keel water cooling system.

The energy collected by the solar panels is stored in the pair of Victron Smart Lithium LiFePO4 25.4V 200Ah Batteries fitted under the navigation station.
